, , , , , , , ,

I met myself on the sidewalk today.

As we strode toward one another

on our separate linear paths

Just at the prescribed distance

our eyes locked for an instant

We smiled and said good morning

I was older than I remember

My false lower teeth were glossy

gray hair poofed around my face

not so greenish as I fear

We went our ways gliding by

I, in the illusion that there was more time.
